Common questions

The questions Blackpool homeowners ask us most, answered in plain English.

+How do I know whether my roof needs a repair or a full replacement?

It depends on how widespread the problem is. One or two slipped tiles or a damaged flashing usually points to a repair, while a roof that leaks in several places, has sagging sections or is at the end of its life is often better replaced. We inspect the roof — using a drone survey where it's hard to see safely — and give you an honest recommendation either way.

+What affects the cost of roofing work?

The main factors are the size and pitch of the roof, the materials involved, how much access is needed and how much of the underlying structure needs attention. That's why we inspect first and quote in writing, rather than guessing over the phone.

+How should I compare roofing quotations?

Check that each quotation describes the same work: the materials named, how many layers are being removed, what happens to the existing roof, and whether waste removal and scaffolding are included. A quote that simply states a price with no detail is hard to compare fairly.

+How often should a roof be inspected?

It's worth having a look after any notably windy weather, and a general check every few years. Small issues like a slipped slate or cracked flashing are far cheaper to sort early than after water has got in.

+Can you inspect my roof without putting ladders or scaffolding up first?

Yes. Our team can carry out a drone survey, which lets us photograph chimneys, ridges, flashings and roof slopes closely from the air. It's quicker, safer and often the reason we can tell you what's wrong on the first visit.
